Hewie Gene Ramsey, 43, of the Youngblood Community in Troy died Saturday, April 22, 2000 in a Montgomery Hospital.

His funeral will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 29 at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Ansley with the Rev. Jonathan Townsend presiding. Burial will follow at Ramsey Cemetery in Ansley. George F. Grubbs Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Survivors include sisters, Ruth (Bob) Smith of White Plains, N.Y., Martha (Elbert) Lucas of White Plains, N.Y., Annie Ruth (David) McClain of Montgomery; brothers, George (Martha) Ramsey, Daniel Ramsey and King Ramsey both of Troy, several nieces nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was born on July 15, 1951 in Pike County to William and Willie Anna Ramsey. He attended the public schools of Pike County. During most of his life, he was engaged in the pulpwood industry.

Annie Lee Benton

Annie Lee Benton, 101, of Route 2, Box 210 in Banks died Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday, April 28 at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge with Elders Carey Sanders and John Rice presiding. Burial will follow at Ramah Primitive Baptist Cemetery.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Lamar Sanders of Louisville, Wilda and David Weidenhaft of Freeport, Fla., Joanne and Buddy Wynn of Mobile; son and daughter-in-law, Deward and Alice Benton of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; sister, Evelyn Austin of Banks; sister-in-law, Jean Benton; brother-in-law, T.J. Hall; 19 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.T. Benton, daughter, Mattie Clae; and sons, Gerald and Levis Benton.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 27 at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge.

Lois Brannan

Lois Brannan, 81, of Sterrett died Tuesday, April 25, 2000.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 27 at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery with the Rev. Delford Isbell presiding. Bolton Brown Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Survivors include sons, William S. Brannan of Franklington, La., Patrick J. Brannan of Troy; daughter, Lois McAliley of Westover; brothers, Joe Strickland of Prattville, Rev. Jack Strickland of Arizona; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Helen Siles

Helen Siles, 79, of 609 Martin Luther King Drive in Troy died April 23 at Pike Manor Health Care Center.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 27 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. L. C. McMillian presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead of Old Hwy. 231 in Troy. Harrison Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Survivors include sisters, Willie Mae Collins, Carrie Mae Rogers, and Georgia Mae Pennington all of Troy, Zettie Whatley of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Mozell Johnson of Mobile, Barbara Reed of Birmingham, Mae Charles Porter of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one uncle and aunt; Senwell McGrady of Troy; devoted nieces, Clemmie M. Martin of Taunton, Mass., Dorothy McBryde of Troy; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1921 in Pike County to Algia Boswell and Iola McGrady. She was a retired Nurse Aide. She attended Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Troy.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.
