The Pike County Republican Committee is hosting a "get together" and "fund raiser" at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Swindall Mobile Home Park, south of Troy on Hwy. 231.

Lawrence Bowden, chairman of the Pike County Republican Committee, said the public is invited to meet local and statewide party candidates and enjoy a camp stew supper and the fellowship of fellow Republicans.

The supper is $5 a person and quarts of the sumptuous stew will be sold for $6 "if there’s any left."

"We hope that everyone will come out and support our candidates," Bowden said. "Each candidate will have an opportunity to ‘stump’ for a few minutes and then they will be around to talk individually with those who have questions and/or concerns."

Bowden said the funds raised from the camp stew supper will be used to carry out party functions and support local candidates. This is also a good time for those who have not committed to a party to learn about the advantages of voting Republican.

"The Pike County Republican Committee equally promotes our candidates and this is a good opportunity to enjoy the fellowship of one another and offer support to all of our candidates," he said. "It’s going to be a low-key get together. We’re looking for a good crowd."

Entertainment for the supper will be provided by The Christianaires and "they will be worth the price of the supper."
