How does a one run lead disappear into a seven run defeat? Just ask Booker T. Washington.

Leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles watched Pike County get busy at the plate, scoring eight runs to blow the game wide open and take a 10-3 victory yesterday in Brundidge.

Jonathan Tillery got things started for the Bulldogs with RBI single in the fifth to tie the game 2-2. Then Brian Kilpatrick ripped a single past the Eagles pitcher and into the outfield to send Tillery home. After an Eagles error got Elijah Daniels on base, Chris Langston shot a two-run double into the outfield to give the Bulldogs a 5-2 advantage.

And with the Booker T. Washington infield making bad throws and bad decisions, Pike County was able to score runs almost at will.

"I think it was more of their pitching then our hitting," PCH head coach Fred Holland said. "It was a learning experience for us, to get down like that and all of a sudden battle back."

Anthony Kilpatrick started at pitcher for the Bulldogs, but after the Eagles had taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the second with no one out, Holland decided to put J.D Evans on the mound.

It turned out to be a good idea, as Evans promptly struck out three straight BTW batters to retire the side. Evans had nine strike outs during the game.

"He (Evans) pitched a real good game," Holland said. "He came in a shut them down. he held them down until we got a chance with our hitting. He did a great job."

The win over Booker T. Washington yesterday was the Bulldogs fourth-straight win in as many days.

PCHS next takes the field March 29th at home against Bullock County.
