The Charles Henderson High School Trojans broke open a close game late against Opp scoring 10 runs in the final three innings Tuesday.

All but one CHHS batter got a hit in the 12-5 Trojan win. It was a five-run sixth inning turned things around in a hurry and busted up a 4-4 tie.

The Trojans (12-4) sent eight batters to the plate in the inning and after an error by Opp to start the inning, CHHS got a double out of David Taylor and a single from Kevin Stephens that scored two.

Two more errors by Opp and a single by Neeley sent the rest of the runs to the plate in the inning. Before all was said and done it was 9-4 and the Trojans were only two innings of relief pitching by Taylor away from their 12th win of the season.

Charles Henderson scored three insurance runs in the top of the seventh, but Taylor wouldn’t need them as he held the Opp batters to only two hits and one run the rest of the way.

Chris Boswell led the Trojans at the plate going 2-for-4 with an RBI while Taylor and Hunter Mathews each had doubles and Neeley and Stephens both got singles with two RBI’s. Will Jones, Jason Barron and Scott Stetson all had singles for CHHS.

Taylor picked up the win after taking over on the mound for Neeley who pitched the first four and one-third innings.

Next up for the Trojans is a double-header date with Enterprise at home on Saturday. First pitch for the first game is scheduled for 10 a.m.
