This is the first year the Pike County Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the event, which gives restaurants and businesses an opportunity to showcase their products and services.

So far, 58 vendors have signed up for the event being held at the Troy Market Place in the old Wal-Mart building from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Some of those businesses which will have booths are: Food World, Southern Delights, Garrett’s IGA, Holiday Inn, Pepsi, Wal-Mart and Winn Dixie.

Those vendors will have everything from fruit baskets and sandwich trays to seafood salad and pecan pie.

Jenniffer Barner, community development director for the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, said more vendors are expected to participate.

But, in order to take part in the first "Taste of Pike County" and Business Expo, businesses must be members of the Chamber of Commerce.

Barner said the event gives Chamber members a chance to display products and services and restaurants the opportunity to give samples of the food and beverages they offer.

Pike County Chamber of Commerce membership director Holly Stoltze said the event is also a way for businesses in Pike County to advertise in an easy and inexpensive way.

Although the "Taste of Pike County" and Business Expo is only for Chamber members to display their merchandise and services, the event is open to the public.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. They can be purchased at the following locations: Chamber office, Chamber board members, the Pike Pioneer Museum, Adams Center Room 214 at Troy State University, Troy City Hall, WTBF FM/AM, Regions Bank-downtown branch, Troy bank and Trust-main office, Colley Senior Complex, Bill Stoltze at Wiley Sanders Truck Lines, Goshen Farmer’s Co-op and Rue’s Antiques in Brundidge.

"This event will give the public a chance to see what our area businesses and restaurants have to offer," Barner said.
