Betsy White knocked in two three-run homers to help propel the Lady Trojans to a 10-1 victory over visiting Jeff Davis.

After both Emily Watkins and Ashley Faust had each hit a single to get on first and second base in the bottom of the first, White stepped to the plate and boomed her first home run right over center field to give CHHS the early 3-0 lead.

And almost identically, with Charles Henderson (2-0) ahead 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth, White hit her second home run.

Again, it was over the center field fence and again Faust and Watkins were brought home.

"I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Betsy hit the ball that hard," said CHHS head coach Steve Haug. "But the thing we did tonight was we set the table for her every time, which we weren’t doing the other night. Tonight we were just more aggressive at the plate."

After the initial bomb by White the Lady Vols scored their only run of the game in the top of the second inning, but that was where it ended for Jeff Davis. With White’s pitching and the CHHS infield playing the ball to perfection, it was tough for JD to even get a base hit.

"It was just a total team effort tonight," said Haug. "We talked about wanting to get everybody involved in the game and that’s what happened. Kelly (Miller) made some good stops in the infield, along with Christie Bradley. They did a good job. I’m proud of them."

On the night the Lady Trojans had 14 hits, while White gave up just four to Jeff Davis.

In the early game, the CHHS girls’ junior varsity team fell to the Jeff Davis JV squad 12-11.

Charles Henderson held a 6-4 lead, before the Lady Vols scored five runs in the top of the fifth to take a 9-6 advantage.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Trojans fought back to tie the game 9-9, with Brittany Carlisle scoring the tying run for CHHS.

Jeff Davis scored three more runs in the top of the seventh and held the Lady Trojans one run shy of tying the game again to take the victory.
