Katie Vera McMillian, 76, of Rt. 1 Box 20-A, Troy died at Baptist Hospital in Montgomery on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 1 at The Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Wilburn Kirkland presiding. Burial will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery in Troy.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Mike Lucks of Montgomery; Margaret and Thomas Carr of Rocky Head; Myrtle and Jimmy Record of Ozark; Frances Bergens of Holt, Fla.; Linda and Thomas Griswold of Ebenzer; Nelda Carr of Brundidge; Mona Bassett of Troy; Mildred and Jimmy Norris of Parrish, Fla.; Darelene and Perry Culver of Tuscalossa; sons and daughters-in-law, David McMillian of Troy; Clyde and Margaret McMillan of Troy; Roy and Myra McMillian of Wicksburg; Roger and Brenda McMillon of Troy; 62 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and lifetime partner, Lester Bergins of Troy.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 29 at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Metta Watkins Bowden

Metta Watkins Bowden, 86, of 267 Boyd St. in Brundidge died on Monday, Feb. 28, 2000 at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy following a lengthy illness.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 2 at Brundidge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmie Spikes presiding. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Skeen Funeral Home of Brundidge is handling arrangements.

Survivors include son, James B. (Jimmy) Bowden of Castro Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Angela M. Smith of Troy; Dawn Moore and Melinda Moore of Atlanta, Ga.; Summer Moore of Brewton; David Bowden of Eugene, Ore.; Scott Bowden of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Irma Gwin of Fairhope; Letha Revels of Troy; Lois Metlock of Waynesboro, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Esther Watkins of Troy; brother-in-law, Lawrence (Sara) Bowden of Brundidge; sister-in-law, Exie Watkins of Lynn Haven, Fla.; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be W.C. Watkins, Paul Watkins, David Watkins, John Gwin, Eddie Powell, and Patrick Smith.

She was preceded in death by husband, J. B. Bowden; daughter, Alice Bowden Moore; son-in-law, Pat Moore; brothers, Pugh Watkins and Delmous Watkins. She was the former owner and operator of Bowden Cafe and Motel. She was a member of Brundidge United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 1 at Skeen Funeral Home in Brundidge.

John L. Holland, a resident of Brundidge died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. Funeral services and survivors will be announced by Bell’s Liptrot-Dawson Funeral Home.
