"Last year, Carter Brothers Manufacturing Company generously donated a Go-Kart to the pageant and we were able to increase the amount of the scholarship for the winner," said Rue Botts, a member of the Brundidge Business Association, sponsor of the pageant. "The BBA likes to support our youth and this is one way we can do so. And, too, the scholarship generates interest in the pageant."

Carter Brothers has again donated a go-kart to the 2000 Miss and Little Brundidge pageant and Botts said the BBA is very appreciative of their interest and support.

"The Carter Brothers donation makes the scholarship possible and gives Miss

Brundidge a boost with college tuition," Botts said.

The first runner up to Miss Brundidge will receive a $350 cash scholarship and the second runner up will receive $150.

The girls who participate in the pageant join members of the BBA in selling tickets for the Go-Kart which will be given away in a drawing at the pageant.

The two contestants who sell the most tickets in two age divisions, four to 10 and 11 to 21, will receive the Spirit awards and $100 in cash.

All girls between the ages of 4 and 21 who live in Pike County or on a Brundidge route are eligible to enter the pageant.

Entries are now being accepted for all divisions of the pageant Miss Brundidge, Little Miss Brundidge, Miss Teen Brundidge, Junior Miss, Young Miss, Petite Miss and Tiny Miss.

Miss Brundidge will wear evening gowns and they will be judged on interview, verbal communication, appearance, poise and Go Kart ticket sales.

Botts said each contestant will be given 50 Go Kart tickets to sell.

"One point will be added to score a maximum of 50 points," Botts said. "If a contestant does not sell 50 tickets, the number of tickets sold will count one point each and be added to the contestant’s score."

Little Miss Brundidge will be judged on beauty, poise, overall appeal, interview and Go-Kart sales. The Little Miss contestants will wear Sunday dresses.

Miss Teen Brundidge will be judged on beauty, poise and overall appeal. Contestants will wear long gowns. Miss Teen Brundidge will receive a $100 savings bond.

Contestants in the other divisions will wear Sunday dresses. They will be judged on beauty, poise and overall appeal. The winners will receive $100.

All winners will receive crowns, banners and trophies. The runners up will receive trophies.

In addition to the Spirit Award, there will be Miss Photogenic awards presented in two age divisions, 4-10 and 11-21. There will be a $10 entry fee. Contestants will be judged on a submitted photograph of any size and black and white or color. The winner in each division will receive a crown, banner and 8×10 portrait.

Entry fee for the pageant is $25 and entry forms are available at Rue’s Antique Mall in downtown Brundidge or by calling 735-3125. Deadline for entry is Feb. 22.
