It wasn’t the easiest of wins, but it was a win and right now that’s the best medicine for the Lady Trojans.

The 74-62 victory for the Troy State women (5-9 overall, 2-4 in TAAC play) was their first double-digit win since November and it almost got ugly with a furious Jacksonville comeback late in the game.

Up by 17 points early in the second half, Troy State looked to cruise to its second Trans America Athletic Conference win and put an end to its four-game losing streak.

The Lady Dolphins (2-13, 1-6), however, looked to pick up their third win of the season putting together a huge run to tie it at 50-50 with just over five minutes to go. Milica Miljkovic drove the basket with a shot and a foul to tie it, but missed the free throw that could have given the Lady Dolphins their only lead of the game.

The Lady Trojans regained their composer at that point and was able to put together a 12-3 run playing controlled ball the rest of the way to ice the win.

The Lady Dolphins, in their first year of competition, won the battle of the boards over TSU by a count of 23. They grabbed 23 offensive boards and a whopping 32 defensive to notch 55 on the day.

Abby Boone had a big game for the Lady Trojans hitting for 24 points, but had to take 23 shots to do it. She hit five 3-pointers and grabbed a team-high eight boards. Chandra Bradford picked up 12 for TSU while Chaquita Alexander had 10 off the bench.

Pam Evans notched a double-double for the Lady Dolphins scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 boards. Angela Walker was the only other player scoring in double figures with 13, most of which came from her 11-of-13 shooting from the foul line.
