William Davis Sr., 78, of 112 Moulton Court in Troy died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000 at his home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Jan. 14, 2000 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Troy, with the Dr. L. C. McMilliam officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul A. M. E. Church Cemetery in Brundidge.

Survivors include sons William (Sylvia) Davis, Jr.; James (Mary) Davis; Charles (Bell) Davis; Edward (Gloria) Davis; Willie (Jeritha) Davis; Terell Davis, Lavoy Davis, all of Troy; daughters, Minnie Lee (Bernard) Cornish of Delaware; Jean (Herman) Coward of Ft. Walton, Fla.; Maxine (James Robert) Thomas of Saco; Elnora (Tommy) Moses of Atlanta; Gloria (Roy) Starks of Troy; Linda Rumph of Troy; Denise Stringer of Atlanta; Mary Davis; Catherine Davis; Sandra Davis; and Laquesha Rumph; brothers, L. K. Allen of Troy; Joseph Allen of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Inez Ray and Loise (Joe) Foster; sisters-in-law, Ms. Hilda of Helicon; Ms. Bernice of Ohio; Mrs. Bedie Allen; 50 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a host of nephews; nieces; cousins; and many friends.

He was born on Feb. 8, 1921 in Pike County to Lee and Elmire Howard Davis who preceded him in death. He attended Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Troy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Rumph; sons, J. W. Davis; and Leroy (Linda) Davis.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000 and the body will lie-in-state from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Jan. 14.

Ina Beard Drinkard

Ina Beard Drinkard, 93, of Rt. 2 in Troy, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Revs. Kenneth Baggett, Ken May, and Marvin Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in the Henderson Community with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include, daughters, Betty (Gillis) Knotts of Troy; Ammanette (Raymond) Kysar of Dothan; sons, William M. (Dollie) Drinkard of Henderson; Robert B. (Jimmie) Drinkard of Brundidge; J. Hugh (Jinene) Drinkard of Troy; Boyd King (Pat) Drinkard of Troy; J. Alvin (Nell) Drinkard of Montgomery; Donnie (Pat) Drinkard of Troy; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Calhoun of Troy; Irene Richburg of Troy; Mary Edna Shirley of Goodhope; Hazel Pouncey of Troy; and brother, Roy Beard of Troy.

Pallbearers will be Ron Drinkard, Bobby Drinkard, Jeff Knotts, Mike Knotts, Roy Folmar, Ray Kyzar, Greg Ricks, Bill Finlay, Jim Drinkard and Mark Knotts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. L. Drinkard; son, Charles Drinkard; daughter, Mary Claire Drinkard; sister, Julia Johnson; and brother, Lawton Beard.

Memorials may be made to Hopewell Cemetery Fund.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 13 at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

A. A. Shiver

A. A. Shiver, 97, of Pike Manor Health Care Center, formerly of Hamilton Crossroads, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 13 at Hamilton Crossroads Church of Christ with minister Doug Williams of Hamilton Crossroads in Brundidge presiding. Burial will follow at Hamilton Crossroads in Brundidge. Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge is handling arrangements.

Survivors include wife, Willie Lou Galloway Shiver; children, Sue (Charles D.) Brown of Banks; Max A. (Judy) Shiver of Troy; Jack B. Shiver of Savannah, Tenn.; Juanita Curtis of Troy; Bettie (Chuck) NeSmith of Brunswick, Ga.; Martha J. (Clifford) Lyons of Muskogee, Okla.; William C. Shiver of Macon, Ga.; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Ocie Chapman of Brundidge; stepchildren, Bill (Patty) Galloway of Uniontown; Francis M. (Faye) Galloway of Troy; Lou (Mary Ann) Galloway of Brundidge.

He was preced in death by his first wife, Bennie Lou Greathouse Shiver.

Pallbearers will be Charles Bray, Terry Lyons, Dr. Ron Shiver, Todd Shiver, Paul Shiver, Dr. Grady Bray, Kelly Shiver, Mack A. Curtis, Jr., and Michael Appling.

Flowers will be appreciated, however, the family request that memorials be made to the Hamilton Crossroads Church of Christ.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral.

Murry L. Thompson

Murry L. Thompson, 84, of the Tennille Community in Brundidge, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000 at Dale Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at Ariton City Cemetery in Ariton, with the Rev. William B. Easterling officiating and Dillard Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Mattie and Wayne Murphy of Troy; grandsons, Joseph Wayne and Walter Murry Murphy of Troy; grandaughter and grandson-in-law, Susan and Chuck Davis of Troy; great-grandson, Joshua Tyler Davis of Troy; brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Louise Thompson of Valley Forge, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Virginia Spurlock of Troy; Florence Thompson of Columbus, Ga.; brother-in-law, Arthur L. Fleming of Brundidge; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by wife, Altha Thompson, and brothers, Robert Thompson and Carlton Thompson.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 13 at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.
