The Pike County Lady Bulldogs raised their record to 8-0 on the season with a 50-38 victory over Carroll High School of Ozark Saturday night.

The Lady Bulldogs used their depth using numerous players off the bench to steadily wear down the Lady Eagles.

"We like to get as many in as we can," Pike County head coach Leroy Bryant said. "You never know when you’ll need your bench."

The Lady Bulldogs jumped on Carroll early opening the game with an 11-0 run. By the end of the fist period the Lady Bulldogs were already in control 13-4.

The Bulldogs high-pressure defense kept the Lady Eagles from sparking any offensive runs in the second period as well. The held the CHS to only 13 first half points and at the half the Lady Bulldogs led 25-13.

The Lady Bulldogs maintained the lead throughout the third as well, taking a 30-15 advantage at one point, but the Lady Eagles were able to pull back to within 12 at the end of the period 35-23.

The Lady Bulldogs exploded for 15 points in the final period before putting in the subs and icing the game.

With his team undefeated and heading into the thick of Area play, Bryant is happy the way his team has come together and feels their knowledge of each other is something that is really helping the Lady Bulldogs.

"Experience is a great asset to this team," Bryant said "These girls have played together for a very long time and it helps them play well together."

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Hope Griffin with 14 points and Bridget Barrow with 12.

The Bulldog men were also able to come away with a 55-45 win in a game that they dominated from the start.

The first half was slow for both teams with the Bulldogs holding a slim 22-18 lead at intermission, but in the third period the Bulldogs took control of the tempo and the game.

The Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 11-6 in the third to climb to a 33-24 lead heading into the final period. Then, Pike County took control of the clock and applied heat to the Eagle offense to pull out the 55-45 victory.

Sam Diggs paced the Bulldog attack with 15-points while Tobias Johnson was close behind with 10.

Next up for Pike County will be an Area matchup as they host Daleville Monday night.
