It was a rough weekend on the road for the Pike County High School Bulldogs as they dropped consecutive games Barbour County and Montgomery County by lopsided margins.

While they still have a chance to win the 3A Area 2 title, the Bulldogs

are starting the new year going in the wrong direction having lost six out of their last seven games.

Barbour County 80

Pike County 53

Sharp shooting LaKeith Person scored 33 points as the No. 7 ranked 2A Barbour County Jaguars crushed the Bulldogs 80-53 in Clayton Saturday night.

Antonio Thomas added 11 points for the Jaguars (10-3) in the winning effort.

Marquez Foster led Pike County (4-10) with 12 points in a losing cause.

Shauna Taylor scored 23 points and Reba Ross added 16 points as the Lady Jaguars improved to 8-2 defeating Pike County 50-30 Saturday night.

Stephanie Caffie led Pike County with 10 points as the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 3-10 on the season.

Montgomery County 56

Pike County 38

Thomas Harris and James Harris combined to score 47 points as the Montgomery County High School Eagles (11-8) cruised to an easy 56-38 victory over the Pike County Bulldogs

in local high school basketball action Friday night.

Foster led Pike County with 10 points in a losing cause.

PIKE COUNTY GIRLS ALSO FALL TO MONTGOMERY COUNTY: Shankevia Barnes scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the the Montgomery County Eagles trounced the Pike County Lady Bulldogs 47-23.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday night when they travel to Fort Deposit for an important area game against Calhoun High School beginning a crucial four game area stretch in mid January. The Calhoun boys (11-4) are ranked No. 5 in Class 3A. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
