V. C. Mobley, 96, a resident of Rt. 1 Box 115 of Jack, Ala. died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999 at Pike Manor Health Care Center.

Funeral Services were held at Haw Hill Assembly of God Church on Sunday, Nov. 14. at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Larry Doster, Paul Nelson, and Shirlie Ellis officiating. There was a 30 minute lie-in-state prior to the service. Burial followed at Haw Hill Assembly of God Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughter, Doris Doster of Jack, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, Marlin and Edna Mobley of Jack, Ala.; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Rex Killingsworth, Billy Eagerton, Cecil Mobley, Fairland Mobley, Wilson Mobley, and Wilson Mobley Jr.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Vaneria Mobley.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Haw Hill Assembly of God Cemetery.

Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

Mary Janice Goodson

Mary Janice Goodson, 56, of Columbus Ga. died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999 after an extended illness.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, Nov. 11 in Columbus with Striffler and Hamby presiding.

Survivors include, two daughters, Renee (Mike) Hancock of Columbus; and Lynn Goodson of Columbus.; two grandsons, Garrett Goodson and Cody Cushmon, both of Columbus; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Garrett of Banks; six brothers, Mickey (Marty) French of Kileen, Texas; Tim (Dawn) Garrett of Woodstock, Ga.; Randy Garrett of Troy; Willian (Bobbie) Garrett of Banks; David (Jenia) Garrett of Banks; Danny (Debbie) Garrett of Banks; one sister, Linda (Joe) Walker of Brundidge; sister-in-law Billie Jean Garrett of Montgomery; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was formerly of Banks. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Jack Goodson; her brother, Henry Garrett; her mother, Josie Garrett; and sister-in-law, Teresa Garrett.

Emmett Hester

Emmett Hester, 73, a resident of Rt. 7 Box 90 of Troy, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Duran Sherrer officiating. Burial will follow at Mossy Grove Cemetery in Troy.

Survivors include a wife, Eisie Hester of Troy; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Mike Stephens of Troy; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Marcia Hester of Troy; sisters, Irene Mock of Andalusia; Luvenia Coppage of Troy; Oleta Folmar of Troy; Jean Tadlock of Montgomery; Mary Smith of Troy; brothers, Roy Hester of Opp; Embry Hester of Troy; Ezra Hester of Troy; 6 grandchildren, Carlee Motes; Shannon Stephens; Sherry Stephens; Kayla Hester; Allen Qualls; Kevin Hester; and great grandchild Lexie Motes.
