Willie B. Blackmon

Willie B. Blackmon, 84, of Banks, died Thursday, September, 30, 1999 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church No. 2 in Banks with the Rev. R. Walter officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermin Baptist Church Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

Blackmon was born March 6, 1914 in Barbour County to Lucious and Viola Blackmon. He was a Pike County school bus driver. He was a member of Mt. Olive Church No. 2 in Banks and was president of Old Pine Grove District Usher’s Union for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Blackmon of Banks; three sons, Willie C. (Odester) Blackmon, Ed (Cal) Blackmon and Walter V. (Porche) Blackmon, all of Dothan; one daughter, Hellen (Terry) Flowers of Montgomery; one sister, Jazzie Bell Lawson of Ozark; two brothers-in-law, Henry Grider and Bud Grider, eight sisters-in-law, Lena Mae Russ, Addie Pearl Grider, Maggie Grider, Lessie Jewel Lawson, Carrie Mae Grider, Johnny M. Grider and Mildred Grider; 15 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and deacons of Mt. Olive and honorary pallbearers will be the Masons. Floralbearers will be granddaughters and nieces.

The body will lie-in-state from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999.

Harrison Dillard

Harrison Dillard, 61, of Troy, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999 at his home.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999 at Dillard Funeral Home with the Revs. Jimmy Mathews, Lee Register and Thad Pittman officiating. Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Dillard of Troy, a daughter and son-in-law, Harriet and Robert Hudson of Troy, granddaughters, Abby Laura and Olivia Hudson of Troy; a sister, Lillis Knotts of Troy; a brother Gene Dillard of Pensacola, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be men of the church, honorary pallbearers will be employees of the State Highway Department.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

William Henry Grissette

William Henry Grissette, 59, of Troy, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999 at his home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at Springhill Baptist Church with the Rev, Mack Lowery officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his mother, Fannie Lou Grissette of Troy; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Kendall Austin of Troy and Karen and Randolph McLendon Jr. of Troy; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Tiffany Boswell of Troy, Blake and Brandy Austin of Troy, April Beasley of Montgomery, Faith McLendon of Troy, Randolph McLendon of Troy; ex-wife, Peggy Grissette of Troy and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Richard Courson, Dave Grissette, Robert Boswell, Marty Flowers, Leon Turvin and Randall Lee. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Banks Masonic Lodge.

The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
