About $27,000 worth of stolen property has been recovered by investigators with the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.
On Tuesday, Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas reported "intensive investigative efforts" by his department have recovered stolen property from Pike, Montgomery and Crenshaw counties.
Although charges in the cases are pending, the items are being returned to the rightful owners.
"All of the property identified has been returned to the owners in the counties were the thefts occurred," Thomas said.
The recovered property included four motor vehicles and all terrain vehicles.
A 2000 Polaris four-wheeler valued at $4,000 was reported stolen from a residence at Route 3, Box 136 in Troy on the Needmore Road and has been returned.
A Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle model 2000 had only 135 miles on it when it was reported stolen from Montgomery. It was valued at $9,000.
Also taken from Montgomery County was a 1997 Suzuki King Quad four-wheel drive valued at $5,000.
A 1996 Ninja motorcycle taken from Crenshaw County has been recovered and valued at $8,500.
One 5X8 trailer also recovered has not been identified, but is valued at $500.
Thomas said it look long hours and hard work by Capt. Dennis Riley and Investigator Frank Wheeler to recover the stolen items and return them to the owners.
The sheriff said other property may be recovered during the ongoing investigation.
