Fullmer Folsom Ellis

Reverend Fullmer Folsom Ellis, 75, died Sunday, August 15, 1999 at his Milligan, Florida, residence surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 1999, at the Shady Grove Assembly of God Church in Baker, Florida, with the Rev. Malcolm Parker, Rev. Chuck Chapman and the Rev. Don Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Baker, Florida with Whitehurst Funeral Home directing.

He was born in Elba, Coffee County, Alabama, on October 14, 1923, to Pete and Delie Ellis. He became a pastor for the Assembly of God Ministries and moved his family to Okaloosa County in 1963. He pastored various churches in Alabama and Northwest Florida. He was a dedicated father and grandfather. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was a member of the Mount Olive Assembly of God Church in Brundidge, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his son, Leonard Dean Ellis, in 1979.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Mavis Nadine Ellis, of Milligan, Florida; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Evelyn Ellis of Longwood, Florida; Gary and Brenda Ellis of Baker, Florida; Lee and Rhonda Ellis of Milligan, Florida; and Wesley and Kristie Ellis of Crestview, Florida; daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Gary Smith of Crestview, Florida, and Rhonda and Pete Trepak of Baker, Florida; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie Turvin of Troy; Lois Ellis of Troy; Annie Clyde Bundy of Jack; and Alice Bundy of Brundidge; brothers, Foster Ellis and Foreman Ellis, both of Brundidge.

Floral tributes will be accepted at the funeral home, or for those who so desire, the family suggests contributions to the Hospice of Northwest Florida, Inc.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 1999, at the Whitehurst Funeral Home, 436 West James Lee Boulevard, Crestview, Florida.

Sarah Elizabeth Thompson

Sarah Elizabeth Thompson, 81, of Luverne died Sunday, August 15, 1999, at Luverne Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Brandenton, Florida.

Survivors include daughter, Marilyn (Skeeter) Thompson of Troy; and son, David Thompson of San Diego, California.

L.G. Weeks

L.G. Weeks, 63, of Montgomery, formerly of Elba and Opp, died Friday, August 13, 1999, at his home, following an extended illness.

Graveside services were held at 4 p.m., Monday, August 16, 1999, from Peaceful Acres Cemetery in Opp with Pastor Greg Aman officiating and Wyatt Funeral Home of Opp directing.

He was born in Geneva County and raised in and around Coffee, Covington and Geneva Counties. He was employed with Shell Oil Company for 11 years before entering the restaurant business in 1965. He and his wife, Laura, owned and operated Northey’s Big "R" Restaurant in Elba until 1984. He worked for more than 30 years in automobile sales with Cook Chevrolet, and Bill Jackson Chevrolet, as well as operating his own wholesale car business. He retired after becoming disabled in May 1994. He served 11 years in the U.S. Army National Guard/131st Armored Battalion and was on active duty with the Army during the Berlin crisis in 1961-62. Above all else, he became a Christian and dedicated himself to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, G.D. and Bertha Weeks and four grandchildren, Matthew, Anna, Lee, and Scott Murray.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Weeks of Montgomery; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Wendy Weeks; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Bill Murray of Elba; Lori and Tony Swindall of Troy; a brother and sister-in-law, Emmett and Pearl Weeks of Opp, five grandchildren, Quinton, Cody, and Taylor Weeks and Kimberlin and Jacob Murray; several other dear friends and relatives.

Active and honorary pallbearers were Quinton Weeks, Buck Cain, Tom Cain, Drexel Cook, Jim Cook, Ronnie Whitworth, Brice Paul, Gere Spivey, Judge Terry Butts, Bobby Davis, Jim Blocker, Larry Weaver and Wayne Northey.

Visitation was held from 6 until 9 p.m., Sunday, August 15, 1999, at Wyatt Funeral Home in Opp.
