for new PCBOE building

The Pike County Board of Education will celebrate its moving into a new building in Troy by cordially inviting everyone to attend their open house Monday from 4 p.m. til 5:30 p.m. at 101 West Love Street.

"We are very excited to finally have a new home," said Pike County School Superintendent John Key. "We like the location because now we feel even more a part of the community."

For the last three years and eight months, according to Key, the operation was housed in the old Oakland Heights school off of Elm Street. Quarters were tight with two to three workers in an office built for one. The last inspection was on July 9 and the organization started moving in on July 12.

"The new building gives us sufficient working room," said Key. "We have had wonderful comments from the community."

June Collier, the receptionist for over 15 years, is glad to be in the new facility.

"We appreciate the new building and the new facelift," said Collier. "We look forward to coming to work every day."

Collier said the community likes the new building almost as much as the workers.

"The community feels we are more accessible, so they come and see us more often," said Collier. "We are so proud when parents, businesses and visitors come in the new building."

Everyone is invited to attend the open house Monday.

"We want the people to come and see what they helped pay for," said Key. "I would like to invite everyone to come by and tour the new facility."

A ribbon cutting will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, with the reception afterwards. Refreshments will be served and everyone is invited to attend.
