Bama team... I am so very proud of you! What a determined group of young men!! I will be leaving Mississippi shortly so that I can be at the game tonight! Blake, you do what you know how to do best! SIT UM DOWN! Stay strong and focused! Each and every one of you are already winners! Now bring home the Championship!!
Hey Blake... that was a pretty nice strike you threw from centerfield against Arkansas... If things aren't working on the mound tonight... ask if they'll let you pitch from centerfield!! OK...just kidding, but it's a nice thought!!
Love you bunches babe! G-Kat

In response to 2234be - Excuse me for saying this; I'm not typically rude, but you are more than welcomed to thank whom ever you choose to thank. Just want you to know that while I appreciate all coaches who take time away from their families and other things that they could be doing in order to coach, there are some who are more deserving of a "thank you" than others! I acknowledged and thanked exactly who I intended to. There are those who coach that are truly qualified and have the ability to instruct, and those who are trying to live vicariously through their children. I would imagine that every coach knows what group they fall into! Besides, I didn't come here to bicker or take away from anyone who deserves appreciation... I came here to question why an update had not been provided by Troy Messenger. Since my original post, the Troy Messenger has covered this exciting event vigorously and provided to these young men articles that they can share with their children and grandchildren for years to come. Have a nice day 2234be and enjoy living in your cynical world! With that being said... GOOD LUCK TO THE (TROY) ALABAMA TEAM AT THE 2009 JUNIOR DIXIE BOYS BASEBALL WORLD SERIES... AND THEIR DESERVING COACHES - SAM KITCHENS, RUSS HARRIS, AND ALLEN BLACKMON!

How amazing it is to see a group of young men from Troy come together as a team and represent the State of Alabama. If you're lacking excitement in your life and haven't experienced the thrill of goosebumps and/or victory in a while, you need to get to Enterprise and witness this event! The excitement and anticipation in the air is absolutely electrifying... or perhaps its the afternoon lightening! Let's just say...you won't be disappointed! These boys really know how to make the BIG plays when they are needed the most! GREAT JOB BOYS! Good Luck this afternoon to team (Troy) ALABAMA and their coaches!!

This has nothing to do with this specific article, but I find it discouraging that Troy Messenger doesn't find that the Jr. Dixie Boys winning the State Championship isn't news worthy! While we all may be older and have lost the sense of thrill that these young men are experiencing... This is a very special event and deserves it's place on the front page! These young men will be representing the State of Alabama in the 2009 World Series. Yes... there was and still is and article prior to their winning State Championship in "Sports" but sheeeesh... This is a memory! If the Troy Messenger doesn't find that winning the State Championship isn't news worthy enough... perhaps they could write an article on the fabulous coaches who led these young men to a State Championship. Perhaps the article would note how these men/coaches are perfect examples of what REAL coaching is all about! Perhaps the article would note some of the young men on this team who have set on the bench in previous seasons because other coaches didn't have the knowledge, and/or ability to see their potential! Perhaps the article would note how over the years Coach Sam Kitchens has earned great respect for selecting the most deserving and capable group of youngsters to win a championship. This year, the Jr. Dixie Boys Tournament Team/All Stars is a focused group of hard working young men. These young men are not there because daddy is the coach, or because they are the son of daddy's golf buddy. These young men are the few and far between who are selected because of their true skills and are coached by men who do not allow parents to interfere with their job. These men/coaches love the game and love winning! By the way...There is nothing wrong with loving to win! Youngsters give up their summers over and over every year with a goal of making it this far, and often fall short because less than qualified coaches were in charge, and the most deserving wasn't selected! These men/coaches know how to motivate young men and teach them the importance of team work, respect, and true sportsmanship! What a group of leaders! Hats off to Coaches Sam Kitchens, Russ Harris and Allen Blackmon - GOOD LUCK TROY JR. DIXIE BOYS AT THE 2009 WORLD SERIES!! Sorry for interupting your comments about zoning... thought I'd just give you all a break!

I find it most upsetting that there is not an updated article about our Jr. Dixie Boys!! Troy Messenger needs to get their priorities in order! These young men just won the Alabama State Championship game!!! I suppose if one of the writers had a child playing... it would be on the front page EVERY DAY!! These young men will represent Troy August 31st in the 2009 World Series. Someone at Troy Messenger should find that NEWS WORTHY!!! Interview each one of these young men...give them something to hold onto and show their children and grandchildren! This is a special event, something these young men will remember for the rest of their lives... shouldn't our local paper find this most interesting... It's surely more important and news worthy than some of the crap that is unedited and put in the paper every day!!

OMG BLAKE! I am so very proud of you! I know it takes the whole team to win a game, but having a great coach like Sam Kitchens doesn't hurt either! What a fantastic job! Not only are you an awesome grandson Blake... you are an awesome ball player! I love you so much... words can not express how happy and excited I am for you and your team! Good luck at the 2009 World Series! G-Kat will be there to witness this event!!
