I don't believe that it took that long. I'm not saying local dispatchers will know every road number. I wouldn't expect them to. I'm just saying that if we had local dispatch they could post a map on the wall in the dispatch office and if they had trouble they could contact the local dispatcher and have a map book in the ambulance. That way they would not have to call Montgomery or Dothan. CARE relies to much on GPS and that's no good out in the county. I'm not sure about Haynes. I know you are going to have some problems out of either company. CARE has shown before that they won't live up to the contract.

On Emergency personnel: Response times key in ambulance bid

Dispatching from Montgomery is a waste of time. Does Mike Sandell have his head shoved up his backend? When it takes over twenty minutes to get to a wreck in the city, it's a clear sign that local dispatch needs to be in Troy. What about over thirty minutes to get to the Veranda Apts. thats right across the street? CARE is as useless as a poopy flavored lollypop.

I agree with oldcampsite, but you want see anymore Fire Stations in Troy for a while. I believe the city will sell the armory to pay for the new library. The city wants you to be smarter, not safer. As far as CARE goes, it want change if they're in town. Where will the helo go? It'll probably get lost just like the ambulances. It's sad when it takes over 20 minutes to get to a wreck, and then not be able to find the hospital. If CARE doesn't get the contract, they want stay like they said. Some commitment Mike Sandell and CARE have made to this county. If you really want to know how bad CARE is, I imagine any police officer, fireman, or patient could tell you.

On Haynes, Care offer bids

I hope the contract goes to Haynes. There have been many complaints filed by citizens against CARE. It's sad when their response time is 30 minutes or longer. There is no telling how many times an ambulance has come from Ozark or Montgomery because there wasn't one in Troy. CARE knows they are in trouble, that's why they have 4 ambulances parked in front of their building. I bet there isn't enough people to run those ambulances. If CARE gets the contract, it will be a mistake. I'm glad Haynes is going to stay either way.
