If you don't like KFC dont go to KFC, why should the gov't be responsible to "safe proof" everywhere you WANT to go. And my primary argument is for the bars. Once again I do not smoke, but I expect smoke at a bar.

It is like saying I have really sensitive ears, loud noises give me headaches that are nearly unbearable, maybe the gov't should set a limit to how loud the music in a bar should be, or how loud people can talk.

I am against the government meddling in the everyday affairs of its people. I do not smoke, but I am against the ban. If they want to ban smoking in government buildings I am ok with that, but for the government to have the audacity to tell someone what to do on their property is too much for me. If you continue to give in to big government and continue to let them strip you of your rights you won't have any left to take.

Let's get serious, a ban on smoking in a bar will kill their business. Bars are to be smoke filled, that's life. If you don't like smoke, don't let the door knob hit you on the way out. This is America, feel free to smoke yourself to death.

I can make the relationship from a ban on smoking to a ban on hunting. It is the government seeking more control, maybe this poem will refresh your memories.....

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I was not a Jew.

WHEN THEY CAME FOR THE SMOKERS,
I DID NOT SPEAK OUT;
I DO NOT SMOKE

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

More government oversight, that seems to solve every problem the government tackles. NOT!

to Faster1, with the exception of Troy FD every other FD in the county is volunteer. And it is hard for these volunteers to be responsible for the EMS calls. Besides the lack of equipment they lack medical training. I am sure they are great at assisting the EMS, but I would not ever consider them a viable replacement.

As an educator I may be able to shed some light on the expense issue. Every year Millions on top of Millions of dollars are earmarked just for technology (on the state and national levels). It can't be used to purchase anything except technology. So even if we are in proration, and can't afford to pay teachers, or toilet paper for that matter, there will still be enough earmarked technology grants to provide blackberry s and computers for all of the teachers.

This is ridiculous, Troy cant even fill the basket ball arena that they currently have. Now if you want to build a building, how about a band room that the band with it's 320 members could actually fit in and sit down, or a choir room to hold the expanding vocal dept.

When Hawkins dies, they should put on his tombstone, "Troy University, furthering your education one stadium seat at a time".

I pretty sure the band kids would be happy to see McCain win. I mean they are going to start with the National Anthem, something Obama doesn't respect.

If Bob Barr were president, none of this would be an issue, as most people fail to see that a federal income tax is unconstitutional, and just makes us all slaves to the country. We are forced to give away our hard earned money to the "greater good" when in all actuality a state tax would serve us better, and then pike county federal tax dollars wouldn't be building bridges to nowhere in Alaska, and paving roads in California, the dollars would be put to use right here in the great state of Alabama.

Teaching is extremely hard work. You are kidding yourselves if you don't think that. With out teachers we wouldn't have a future. If we do not educate our children, our country would be in a real mess. Imagine everyone on SSI disability, as being illiterate now qualifies you to get a check. Teachers literally hold the future of our country in their hands, and that should qualify them, someone with a degree to make more money than 13 dollars an hour.
