So, now the candidate that is "clearly" (the word you used) the best vote, you suddenly know nothing about, when it comes to the courtroom. As I asked before, and whether or not anyone wants to think this matters, it does--Does Shannon Clark practice primarily in Juvenile Court? How many cases has she tried (bench or jury--take your pick) as lead counsel? Has she ever practiced law or made any type of appearance in Pike County--besides political within the last month? If you think she is "clearly" the best choice, these are things in which you should educate yourself. I have never professed that Cliff is "clearly" the best choice, I have only elaborated the fact that Pike County should have representation. If you think she is "clearly" the best choice, you must know A LOT that we, as Pike Countians, don't know. Especially since we've never seen her until now.

I am female. As far as I go, 'equal representation' on my part is only in reference to this county as a whole. Not because of gender.

You may be a politician yourself! You are dodging those 2 questions like the plague! I don't campaign for 'Cliff Hastings'. I am campaigning for equal representation. I am sure that if the shoe were on the other county, you would feel the same way. If Pike County ruled the roost, it would be a different discussion. Just like I have said over and over--that's all I'm sayin'. I haven't even heard Cliff speak, so I don't know his record, I don't know how many jury trials, I don't know how many bench trials, but I do know that he is a representative of the people in Pike County.

Maybe you should have just typed 'ditto to the post before me'. Again, has she practice law in Pike County & does she primarily work in Juvenile court?

I don't know if Mr. Hastings just 'wants to be a judge' or not, but I've personally never heard him vocalize it (yes, her comment was heresay). I can also assure you that after yesterday, I was not quivering in my boots worried that she is so completely qualified that we better start pushing for a Pike County vote. My point is, and I say again, we need representation from Pike County. In my first comment, I stated that she was a nice person. It was not until you began putting Cliff Hastings on blast for misrepresentation and questioning courtroom practices that I started to question your intentions and Mrs. Clark's intentions. Answer this--has she practiced law in Pike County?

PCRW meetings are open to anyone that wants to attend to listen to republican candidates. There were more people (men and women) in attendance than ever. Our Bar Association was well represented. I may or may not even be a member of that 'group', so don't tuck your tail and withdraw just because something has been said that questions your candidates intentions. The only point that you have made is that you really don't have a point. You think she should get it because she is 'best and most qualified' and Mr. Hastings has 'misrepresented himself'. When working a campaign, you should know that you need to spit it out! Lots of folks read this bulletin, and may not post comments, but now you have the opportunity to tell us all.

What??? I've met her. I've never even seen her in the courtroom, except Juvenile court (District Court--which she made a run for in Coffee County). So, this is her 2nd run for judge. Does she just "want to be a judge"? That's in quotation marks for a reason, as she has been know to say this on occassion in social conversation, heresay. What exactly qualifies her? Please, do tell! It seemed yesterday that she was more concerned in giving a lesson on Circuit Court (and the number of cases we have in our county) than speaking of her record and intentions. I'm interested in exactly what you are so 'on-fire' about. Downing Cliff Hastings is not the way to make your candidate look better. Please, tell us the facts. What exactly has he misrepresented and what does she represent. We are all still wondering--

Maybe I am at the courthouse everyday. I do know that there is not a circuit judge at the courthouse every, single day. But, if Judge Barr is not in court in Coffee County, he is here. He does a great job, and these will be big shoes to fill. You never know. Maybe I have more insight than you think. Maybe I have never known of Shannon Clark even practicing in Pike County. Maybe I am thinking of the fact that we, as Pike County citizens (Republican or Democrat), should have fair and equal representation. Favors, are you kidding me?? We are all adults here and well aware of judicial and legal ethics. I am certainly now in the opinion that you are either a relative or her campaign manager. I am simply stating that Pike County--all parties--should get behind the candidate that will best represent our county. We won't have a D.A. from Pike County, and if Shannon wins, we won't have a judge. That means that every elected Circuit Judge and the D.A. (regardless of that race) will be from Coffee County. Like I said before, I am not necessarily saying that Hastings will be the best Circuit Judge ever, and he will live up to the bar that Judge Barr (no pun intended) has set, but we need representation. Republican voters in Coffee County out-number republican voters in Pike County. Therefore, regardless of party affiliation, Pike County voters need to consider crossing the lines to elect a judge from Pike County--and I don't mean crossing the county line!

I'm thinking with a name like 'dryground', odds are that you reside in Coffee County--maybe I'm wrong. Sure, you think that she is best for the job, if you are a resident of Coffee County. Fact is, the citizens of Pike County will not have a representative for 'us' within the local circuit court system if Clark wins. REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRAT, INDEPENDENT....no one from Pike County! (Yes, I am aware that there are 3 judges and they will all serve on Pike County cases) Mrs. Clark seems to be a great person, but if the two of them were in a debate, there is no comparison. I am not necessarily a Cliff Hastings campaign junkie, but there is a CLEAR line in their dispositions and the general way that they carry themselves, speak & practice law. What everyone needs to think about is when you are in your time of need, who are WE going to have here to turn to. She continually says "if necessary, I will get an office in Troy". The citizens of Pike County need to make it clear that 'IT IS NECESSARY' to have an office here, and it should be held by a Pike Countian.

You have me pegged, very wrong. I am far from 'ill-informed'. I think you have just realized that I am a lot more informed about the mystery candidate that I know nothing about, rather than the candidate that practices regularly here in Pike County. I work with Cliff in the courtroom. I know what he does, I know his family. It is not my intention or job to investigate someone that I know. Like I said, I am not campaigning for him. But, it is my duty to INFORM myself about someone running to serve as a judge that I have no clue as to whom they are, never layed my eyes upon them, and have never heard their name until they announced they were running. Wouldn't that make sense??? Maybe not to you, since you know her. But like yourself (investigating Cliff), I have 'informed' myself as to Shannon. Facts are that she practices primarily in Juvenile Court. A fact that cannot be disputed. She does not practice in Pike County, a fact that cannot be disputed. Like I said before, I just would like to see equal representation.
On Judge, DA candidates speak out
