I'm not sure I have an opinion on this new building. Sartain was pretty nice after the remodel, but there might be good reasons for why it was time for a new multi-use building. Better than moving graduation to the football stadium or something. And I'm for anything that means fewer golf courses in the world. Total waste of water. Here's hoping the new building is energy efficient and something the school can be proud of.

According to the terms of use:
"if you use inappropriate language (even when typographically obfuscated), or make potentially slanderous or libelous comments when using this site and its features, or engage in ad hominem attacks on fellow commenters, people mentioned in stories or any employee of the newspaper, we reserve the right (but assume no obligation) to remove any and/or all of your contributions"
How is saying "THIS IS NOT NEWS" an attack on anybody? I don't care that this person lives in New York. I merely said that there are things that are more newsworthy than the fact that someone from Troy now has a new address in a big city. That's not an attack and shouldn't result in my comment being removed.

It's nice to see that this thread has gone from discussions of the effectiveness of the stimulus into advocacy of murdering American presidents. Class acts.

I was really down on myself and didn't believe in God until a local business person came to my school and told me to believe in myself and believe in God. Now I do. What a great message. I have turned my whole life around. I no longer huff glue.

This editorial is so weak. There's no "web site" to talk about the effects of the stimulus? Is that a joke? Every single think tank that follows budget issues has come out with an estimate of whether the stimulus has saved jobs or not or how much money it saved, etc. Even a child with a basic understanding of the Internet can find various estimates of the effects of the stimulus. Are there varied estimates? Yes, like there are for anything. I found the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities to be persuasive and evidence-based.

Mr. Pierce thinks the best think in education since the 1960s was re-segregation. So I guess it makes sense that he supports charter schools.

It was never even called the "War Against Terror." The Bush Administration called it the "War On Terror," but even that stupid name has been changed to "global struggle against violent extremism." When smart people can't even keep up with what our various wars of indefinite duration are called, we are in bad shape.
