I did vote. To be honest, I chose the lesser of what turns out to be two evils. We all make mistakes and trust when we should not.
OH, and encore, this is not a game. This is REAL life. These decisions make a difference in what happens in my district. By the way, do you live in District 6 or is this more of a personal thing for you? If this is about getting Karen Berry, then go deal with that privately. Thanks.

This is not about whinning. This is about wanting a chance to VOTE for the person I would like to have represent me.

There are many things about Mr. Fannin that I do not find desirable in a representative. I believe I have the right to that OPINION as a voter in District 6. I have not stated any of these things because this is not the place for that....unlike some people who try to slander the reputation of others. I did not make accusation about things he did or did not do.

I never said that he cheated. I have no idea what he did nor did not do. And unless you are Mr. Fannin, you do not either. I do appreciate him standing up for something. BUT knowing what I do of him, I do not believe this was about honor and fighting for any other cause than winning the seat. Just as you have the right to express your OPINION, I do also. I do not want Mr. Fannin representing me.
As I believe I have said before, this is not about me defending Mrs. Berry. Karma will take care of Mrs. Berry. This is about me stating my views on having Mr. Fannin represent me.

Mr. Fannin may be GIVEN the position, but that does not make him a winner.

Yes turtle, District 6 is the loser.
And I also agree that their divorce details are NONE of our business. Some of the comments have been a little too personal and may border on slander, rather than opinion.

This article is about the hearing that was held. We are still waiting for a decision from the judge, although most of us have an idea what it will be. It is time for this to be over and for those of us in District 6 to be able to move on.
BUT that does not mean I want Fannin to be given the position. I would rather have someone appointed if a new election is not going to take place.

Thanks encore for anwering my question. I understand better now.
Just WOW. I am so sorry I missed it. I would be interested to hear from someone in the Berry camp about all of this. Not sure how it could be worded in a favorable way, but it would be interesting.
I am still concerned about the motives of Mr. Fannin. And a question, how in the world would he KNOW to question absentee ballots? Just asking.
This is like one of those made for TV movies about scandal in a small town.
Oh, and thanks to all of you for the play-by-play reporting. Still REALLY hate that I missed being there.

You are probably right Ramsey. We will most likely not get a new election. We will be told who will represent us whether we like it or not.

Encore, just so I understand. The three votes that Fannin got were not illegal, but they would be taken away from him? Or would they still be counted for him?

I would be interested in reading the transcripts from these hearings. It has been like a soap opera. Does anyone know if those be considered public records?

YES, the people of District 6 are the ones being screwed. The interesting thing in all of the comments is that very few people have called for the election to be given to Fannin. Most people (on here) who live in this District seem to be calling for another election.
What does that say to the ones making the decision about this?

I am sick of the situation, but am glad to be kept up about what is going on in MY district...especially after missing the hearing Wednesday/Thursday.
By the way yatta, this is Pike County, There is not much going on around here if you have not noticed. THIS is news worthy. The information given in each story about this hearing has been different with each new development.
I just hope the judge DOES make a decision within the next two weeks.

Me too, Blue_Sky.
I guess I should not have relied on the information from the newspaper. I should have called the courthouse for the correct info.

Are criminal charges REALLY being filed? Do you think anything will come of it?
I really wish that I could have been there to try and understand what is going on.

Adam Drinkwater? WHY? Wasn't that election lost by a much higher margin? We have waited for over 6 months for Fannin to prove maybe 10 votes were "illegal". How long would it take to go back and find illegal votes from the primary? We NEED a new election. We do not need anyone appointed.
I am still wondering who changed the date of the hearing and WHY it was changed. A few of us would have liked to have been present.
