Great story! Couldn 't help but chuckle as it brought back many memories.

Once again I am amazed at what this church does to reach out to our community. If churches can be described as "leading-edge," then Hephzibah Church certainly fits that description. Over the past several years I have attended Hephzibah for some of its special events. Each time, I have left feeling like I had really been to church. As an outsider looking in, I want to say "thanks" to Hephzibah Church and its pastor and staff for bringing these events to Troy.

WDM,I assumed a shooting had actually occurred. The words of the Chief were, "an occupied vehicle was fired at in the parking lot." Maybe he meant, "an occupied vehicle was ALLEGEDLY fired at in the parking lot. I stand corrected.

Sounds like this was an actual shooting, not an "alleged" one. If it was an alleged one, then a vehicle was "allegedly" fired at, and a black male driving a burgundy Chevrolet "allegedly" fired a gun.
Let's be careful to not create any bias toward these criminals because of how we word statements about their crimes. Oops!...."alleged" criminals!!

I just returned to Troy from a trip to the Mississippi gulf coast and Louisiana. Gasoline was $2.85 per gallon in most places. In areas that were affected by the recent hurricanes, a person can buy gasoline 20-cents per gallon cheaper than it can be bought in Troy, AL. Go figure.
Should be "breathe a sigh of relief" that we are now paying "only $3.05" per gallon?

For most of these delinquents, I would guess that they are far beyond being sensitive enough to be embarrassed when they willfully defy the laws.

I, for one, appreciate the Messenger's coverage of Auburn football...and I am not an Auburn fan! I have discovered that the world extends beyond the borders of Pike County. Imagine that! Keep up the good work, Messenger staff.

I agree that it is a sad day for America. We have elected a president who is a Socialist. It should not shock any of us. We have been moving in this direction for years. Both political parties have contributed to the journey. I will continue to respect the office of the presidency, however, I have no respect for Obama. Congratulations to all of those who voted for him. Your victory may prove to be bittersweet.
On Obama triumphs, will be first black president
