Griffin to help with meal hand outs today

Published Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Brundidge’s own Cornelius Griffin, who plays for the Washington Redskins, is in town to help with the meals he sponsors each year for people who may not otherwise have a Thanksgiving meal.

Griffin’s brother, Mark Griffin confirmed Monday night that Cornelius was indeed in town.

According to Brundidge Rotary Club Member Cot Wallace, the Rotary Club has been assisting Cornelius by passing out the meals from the past eight to 10 years.

“We’ve been (helping) since its inception,” Wallace said.

Wallace said meals would begin to be passed out around 10 a.m. today.

“We take out about 250 meals,” Wallace said.

Still, those who wish to may come to Brundidge Station and dine-in.

Cornelius Griffin is a class individual. Truly an individual who never forgets where he came from. He has been blessed with football talent, however if his father were here, he would be most proud of the size of Cornelius' heart !

I have a brother that is a triple amputee in a special care facility in Florida. He is also on kidney dialysis. His favorite team is the Washington Redskins...and one of his favorite players is Cornelius Griffin <s>

I hate to even mention to my brother that Mr. Griffin is visiting very close to Troy...because he would flip!

Anyway.....VERY nice of Mr. Griffin to always be so charitable...and God bless him!
