Luverne High School senior Ashley Hall signed a scholarship to run on the Troy University track and field team Monday. Back row, LHS athletic director Bob Williams, LHS girls’ basketball coach Richard Dorsey and LHS track coach Danny Suber.
Ashley Hall makes sure to run every day and she eats a healthy diet. This dedication to staying in shape has garnered Hall a scholarship to Troy University.
The Luverne High School senior, who is the defending Class 2A state champion in the 100-meter dash and the 200, signed the scholarship Monday and will join fellow Tiger Payton McGhee on the Trojans squad.
“It is very exciting to sign a scholarship and it is a great opportunity,” Hall said. “It means so much to sign a scholarship because college is expensive and I am just glad to help my parents out.”
Luverne track and field head coach and former Pike County Bulldog, Danny Suber, said it is great to watch an athlete sign a scholarship.
“Any time you get to see an athlete sign a scholarship that is great because that is why we are in this coaching business,” Suber said. “And I would have to say that Ashley is one of the most genuine females on our campus.”
Hall is the captain of the cheerleading squad and also plays basketball, volleyball and softball for the Tigers.
Hall said she is excited to start running at the college level.
“I feel like if I stop running I will get out of shape and I always try to stay busy,” Hall said. “And to get to run at the college level is just amazing.”
