Petrey man charged with burglary
Published Saturday, July 18, 2009
The arrest of a Petrey man by Pike County deputies could lead to the resolution of several hunting camp thefts in Pike and Crenshaw counties, deputies said Friday.
Paul Holley, 41, of Crenshaw County, ws arrested Monday for failure to comply with registration. On Tuesday, he confessed to the burglary of a hunting camp in Pike County, said Sheriff’s Deputy Troy Johhnson.
By Friday, he was being held on a $10,000 bond in the Pike County jail.
“But just a few minutes ago, we recovered a stolen golf cart out of Crenshaw County and we’re planning on charging him with another burglary,” Johnson said. “We believe we’re going to be able to link him to several burglaries of hunting camps in the Pike and Crenshaw county areas.”
Johnson said Pike deputies were working with Crenshaw officials to coordinate the case, and items recovered to date range from guns and ammunition to sleeping bags and fish cookers, as well as the hunting clothes, gas bottles, copper and, of course, the golf cart.
