Man charged with sex crimes
Banks resident accused of sexual assault
Published Thursday, July 2, 2009
A 56-year-old man has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a child less than 12 years old.
David Wayne Long, of Banks, was taken into custody Tuesday for allegedly abusing a young girl for the last five years, said Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas.
The relationship of the child will not be released to protect the victim’s identity, but Investigator Frank Wheeler said the incident is alleged to have been ongoing.
“He has been sexually abusing (her) from the age of five to present, and she is now 10 years old,” Wheeler said.
The incident was reported to the sheriff’s department June 16, Wheeler said.
A warrant was issued for Long’s arrest on charges of sexually abusing a child less than 12 years old.
His arrest was made Tuesday, and Long was released on a $50,000 bond from the Pike County Jail.
