Charles Henderson senior running back Lequintez Reynolds is wrapped up in the Trojans 41-38 loss to Theodore last Friday.
The Charles Henderson Trojans are back in region action this week. It is Homecoming week on the campus as well.
The opponent for week six is new region foe Beauregard.
“Homecoming is always big at Charles Henderson,” Trojans head coach Hugh Fountain said. “One thing the guys have to remember is that it all centers around the game. This game is very important in the region. This week we’ll see who separates themselves from the other teams in the region. We’ll have a good idea of who the playoff teams will be, and who will be at home or on the road in the playoffs.”
The Trojans goal at the beginning of the season was to win a region title. The light on their goal is dim, but not diminished. The Valley Rams are undefeated in region play, but the Trojans are still in the hunt.
Fountain wants his team to take the season one game at a time, and this week their focus is on the Bobcats.
“Offensively it all starts with their quarterback,” Fountain said. “He is very athletic. He runs well and throws well and stays calm and in control during the game.”
That quarterback is Ameriol Finley and Fountain said he runs the Bobcat spread offense like a veteran.
“They also have a huge offensive line,” Fountain said.
The Trojans have given up 72 points in the past two weeks, and their defense will have another tough task this week with Beauregard’s big line and elusive quarterback.
The Beauregard defense is tough as well, according to Fountain.
“They like to blitz a lot,” he said. “They are an impressive unit to me. It’s going to be hard to control because they have so many blitz formations. We just have to take advantage of any mistakes they make when they blitz.”
The Trojans have plenty of motivation this week against the Bobcats, but the deciding factor will be how to harness that motivation into a winning effort on the football field Friday night.
“We have got to come out and play intense football,” Fountain said. “This is a huge game for Charles Henderson. We can’t afford a loss in region play if we want to stay in the top half.”
Kickoff for the Trojans and Bobcats is set for Friday at 7 p.m. from Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium.
