The Troy 11U soccer tournament team had aspirations of making it back to state and avenging a 1-0 loss to Dothan last year. The team accomplished the first part of their goal when they took out Ozark 9-1 in the district championship game in Eufaula Saturday afternoon.

“We had a lot of goals scored and a lot of different people in different positions,” head coach Ken LaBrant said. “We played some very good soccer today.”

The 11U all-stars allowed only one goal in two games and swept through the district tournament with ease, winning the first game of the tournament 3-0 over Andalusia. The Trojans were scheduled for a bye, but Fort Rucker dropped out of the tournament and Troy faced Andalusia in the first round.

LaBrant said it felt good to get the district under their belts and now they will focus on the state tournament.

“It feels real good to get district locked up and move on to state,” LaBrant said. “Our team looked real good out there and they played hard all day. And the best part about this team is that they don’t mind sharing the ball. I heard no complaints all day.”

In the championship game Cole LaBrant scored four goals, Baylor Barnes scored two goals and Cole Wilson, Ben Salmon and Jack LaBrant each scored a goal.

The Trojans held Andalusia to zero shots on goal in the opening game. Cole LaBrant scored two goals against Andy and Reilly Fox had one score in the game.
