Police still seek bank robbery suspect
Published Monday, December 15, 2008
Brundidge police are searching for a suspect who robbed the city’s branch of Troy Bank and Trust on Friday.
About five minutes before closing Friday afternoon, a man walked into the bank, passed a note to the clerk and left with $2,500, said Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport.
“He passed a note saying ‘Give me $2,500. I’ve got a gun,’” Davenport said. “He reached in to grab the money and left.”
Davenport said he isn’t sure what type of gun was allegedly used in the robbery, since the clerk never saw the weapon.
The suspect is described as a black male, just under 6 feet tall. At the time of the incident, he was dressed in all black and was wearing white sneakers.
Davenport said the clerk might have seen the suspect walk into the bank about 30 minutes prior to when the robbery occurred. Davenport said they are working on getting video pictures of the suspect from the surveillance camera.
The FBI and the Pike County Sheriff’s Department are assisting the Brundidge police in the investigation.
Troy Bank and Trust Marketing Officer Dianna Lee said she could confirm the Brundidge branch did get robbed, and there were no injuries.
“We are working with law enforcement to apprehend the person who did this,” Davenport said.
Davenport said the Brundidge robbery does not appear to be related to a weekend bank robbery in Dothan. “We don’t think so, but we never know,” Davenport said. “Because there was a rash of robberies going on, they may have been connected in some way.”
Anyone with information relating to this incident should contact the Brundidge Police at 735-3333.

This is twice within the last year or so this bank has been robbed! Now it is twice in the history of this bank, if I recall correctly. I think I will just take the 5th on the entire subject! Proud that "assistance" is around!!!

Maybe the FBI could do a little criminal profiling here. First you go to Pike Co. High School and review all the records for students that were sent to the office for passing notes like, "Yo girl, will you be my shorty? Check yes or no." It seems like this suspect likes to communicate through the medium of writing. Furthermore, this suspect seems to have a reason for asking for $2500. Maybe there is a stiffer penalty for taking more than that. Some of ya'll more versed in the law help me out here. This suspect may have done time before or has some knowledge in different punishments for robbery. Now that I think about it, checking the records at PCHS for notes like the one above won't narrow the field by much.

Maybe they had to pay back child support. Why not ask for more?

No matter what you say, that robber is tough & talented. Just read the article about what he did during this crime...
He passed a note saying ‘Give me $2,500. I’ve got a gun,’” Davenport said. “He reached in to grab the money and left.”
Anyone that can take the note into the bank in their anus, pass it, give it to the teller and get out with the $$ is a talented crook.

That changes things. Was it a morse code message? Was a paper note actually passed? And another thing, why was the teller in a position to read this note anyway? Hmm..Nice work Jack. Had it been anyone else and that note would have ended up out here at the WasteWater Treatment Plant. That does narrow the field considerably.

Only $2,500? OldSchool, he must work with you at wwtp. He could have gotten more but was too stupid......well, on the other hand, maybe he was smart for not getting too greedy. Maybe he completed his Christmas list and this is the amount he needed to finish shopping. You can't blame a man for trying to raise a little extra cash.

Maybe he was trying to raise the money to send his child to a private school. He should've asked for more.

Deliman, if he worked out here with me, he could have found $2,500 floating in the water. There is no need to rob and steal when gravity just sends treasures your way out here at the WasteWater Treatment Plant.

Maybe his kid goes to a public school and he figure it would be a wash in all the other wasted money spend. Maybe he didn't want to pay taxes on it so Virtuous's kid could get another free ride.

Hello, this is Hoopman sending my thoughts from Iraq.
I just think to much has change in Brundidge, people are moving away and crime has gone up.
We might need to get some crime stoppers out there.

@ Yatta
Virtuous's kids will always be taken care of. With or without Yatta! Virtuous depends on God to take care of her and her family just as He has done thus far. My household is BLESSED and will forever be BLESSED because God is my source...Not the government, not my job (which I love very much), not my family, and certainly not Yatta. Virtuous is not worried about the economy, proration, recession, depression, taxes, lay-offs, etc., because she reads her bible and knows that everything she's read in God's word is being fulfilled.
Amazingly, not only does God's Word foretell what is happening now, but it also tells what I am to do in these times of famine and what He will do to carry me through it. Wow!...He even tells me He will protect me from all of it......Yes! Worried, stressed, Depressed, Afraid? Nope...not Virtuous. Virtuous is at peace and resting in her Father's hand in high expectation of the miracles He's about to do for me and greatful for those already done.
Yatta...you should try it....you may like the warm feeling it gives you. :)

This robber had an agenda to meet. He wanted to cover the cost of something he wanted to buy. Whether it be drugs or something material. I tend to think that buying drugs was his focus.
We have too many social programs in place to help people down and out on their luck for it to be anything else but drugs.

@Bamabunny
I've been sitting here re-reading/dissecting my comment looking for the offensive part of it. I'm glad at least one person, other than myself, doesn't see it.
