Troy readies for weekend

The Troy University baseball team has a key matchup in this weekend's series. The Arkansas State Indians are coming to Troy for a three-game weekend series with the Trojans.
Action begins Friday night at 6 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field, continues Saturday at 6 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Trojans (17-12) sit in second place in the Sun Belt Conference with a 6-3 record. Troy only trails the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawks who have posted a 10-2 record so far in the season.
Troy suffered its first conference series loss last weekend at home to New Orleans. The University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles also swept the Trojans in a mid-week series Tuesday and Wednesday.
Arkansas State sits at 14-15 and 5-7 in the Sun Belt this year.
On the softball diamond, the Troy University Trojans will continue their road trip with a weekend series against conference foe Florida Atlantic University. A doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. is scheduled for Saturday with the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Trojans (23-15) sit in third place in the Sun Belt Conference standings with an 8-4 record. The Trojans trail the Owls of FAU and the Florida International University Golden Panthers who have 7-2 and 6-2 conference records,
respectively.
