Mrs. Gladys (Fuller) Carr
Mrs. Gladys (Fuller) Carr, 90, a life long resident of Zion Chapel Community, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at Elba General Hospital in Elba. Funeral services will be held at Zion Chapel Baptist Church on Friday, October
1, 2004, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Jimmy Maddox, Rev. Joel Jackson, Rev. Mark Griffin and Rev. Larry Doster officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Elba.
Visitation was at Hayes Funeral Home on Thursday, September 30, 2004, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
"Miss Gladys," as she was affectionately called, was born the eldest of seven children to Joe and Mary Smith Fuller on February 3, 1914. She attended the Zion Chapel one-room schoolhouse. Until her death, she was the oldest active member of Zion Chapel Baptist Church. Miss Gladys was a most loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a friend to all who knew her and genuinely loved everyone with whom she came into contact.
Mrs. Carr was preceded in death by her parents; her Husband - Nathaniel Carr; a Daughter - Dorothy Merle Jackson, a Granddaughter- Brenda Gail Jackson, two Brothers - Eugene and Harold Fuller, a Sister - Joy Bragg, and a Son-in-Law - Billy Paul Owens.
Survivors include a son, Jace Foster Carr (Kate) of Troy; and daughters Merlene Owens of Elba; Sue Jackson of Atlanta; Dorothy Parker of Troy; and Edna Morrow (Tommy) of Elba; granddaughter Kathy Carr Woodfin (Rick) of Dothan; granddaughter Karen Carr Peters (Daniel) of Troy; granddaughter Karla Carr Park (Dennis) of Troy; granddaughter Lynn Owens Weeks (Danny) of Elba; grandson Ken Owens (Joyce Bracewell) of Elba; granddaughter Krysti Owens (Shane Blanton) of Atlanta; great granddaughter Tiffany Parker (Alan Hunter) of Montgomery; great granddaughter Tasha Rhodes (Mike) of Troy; great granddaughter Carrmen Harris (Kenneth) of Troy; great granddaughter Abbey Peters of Troy; great grandson Jace Colley of Troy; great grandson Landon Park of Troy; great grandson Tucker Park of Troy; great grandson Nathan Peters of San Francisco; great grandson Patrick Woodfin of Auburn; great grandson Kyle Woodfin of Eufaula; great granddaughter Christina Cook Anderson (Tom) of Enterprise; great grandson Jimbo Cook of Elba; great great grandson Preston Rhodes of Troy; great great grandson Clayton Hester of Troy; great great granddaughter Aubree Harris of Troy; great great granddaughter Parker Loren Hunter of Montgomery; great great granddaughter Amber Harris of Troy; great great grandson Ryan Harris of Greenville; and great great grandson Austin Harris of Greenville.

Christopher O'Steen Harrell
Graveside service for Christopher (Chris) O'Steen Harrell, 54, of Milton, Fla., who died Thursday, September 16, 2004, in Pensacola, Fla., will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2004, at Oakwood Cemetery on Knox Street in Troy. Rev. Alan McBride will officiate the service, which is under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
Visition is from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2004, at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
Chris, the second son of the late Charles and Edna Harrell, was born March 8, 1950 in Troy. He graduated from Charles Henderson High School in 1968 as an honor graduate and was voted the most valuable player on the baseball team his senior year. In 1971, he graduated from Troy State University with a B.S. degree in accounting and earned his CPA degree in 1982. Chris' professional career consisted of 12 years with the Internal Revenue Service, and he recently retired from The Southern Company in Atlanta. Favorite pastimes included reading, traveling, golf and, of course, watching his beloved University of Alabama football.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Karen Harrell; his stepson, Brad; brother, Andy Harrell and wife Melba of Milton, Fla.; sister, Olivia Youse and husband Richard of Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Jeff Harrell and wife Kam of Jonesboro, Ga.; and four nephews and one niece.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Big Oak Ranch (a Christian home for abused children), P.O. Box 507, Springville, AL 35146.
Horace L. Todd
Funeral services for Horace L. Todd, 82, of Brundidge, who died Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Hwy. 231 South, with Rev. Gerald Wilkes and Rev. Rex Godwin officiating. There will be a lie-in-state from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home in Brundidge.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, October 1, at Skeen Funeral Home in Brundidge.
He was born February 19, 1922 in Pike County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben F. Todd and Ollie Medley Todd; and his wife, Minnie Todd.
Survivors include two nephews and wives, Ronald and Hazel Jackson, and Leslie and Jimmie Jackson, all of Brundidge; two great nieces, Rhonda Kaye Jackson of Tuscaloosa and Shayne Jackson Slingluff of Dothan; one aunt, Ida F. Todd of Montgomery; and a number of cousins.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Rocky Head Baptist Church.
The family requests memorials be made to The Gideons, Dale County Camp, P.O. Box 291, Ozark, AL 36361.
Ruby Faulk Long
Graveside service for Ruby Faulk Long, 79, formerly of Brundidge, who died Thursday, September 30, 2004, at Enterprise Nursing Home, will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2004, at Williams Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery in Brundidge.
Rev. Kenneth Earles will officiate the service, which is under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.
Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 1 at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Ann Faulk of Jack; grandchildren, Tracy and Marlene Faulk of Jack; Ashley and Deborah Faulk of Jack; great grandchildren Jordan, Abigail and McKeena Faulk; step-daughter Eleanor Parker of Grady; and two step-granddaughters, Judy and Gloria.
William "Buddy" Allen
Services for William "Buddy" Allen, 83, of Prattville, who died Thursday, September 30, 2004, at Prattville Health and Rehab, will be at 7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy. Rev. Scott Sexton will officiate the service.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. Burial will be on Monday, October 4, in Tampa, Fla., under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Chlora Amis Gibson Allen.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Allen-Finkel (Dr. Bob) of Delutha, Ga.; two sons, Clavie (Beverly) Allen of Sylacauga, and Dannie (Kathy) Allen of Deltona, Fla.; sisters, Annie Pearl Rainey (Herman) of Springhill; Louise Day of Montgomery; Leo Grimes of Panama City, Fla.; Wassie Cardwell (Wallace) of Wetumpka; Bunk Wambles (Charles) of Wilsonville; a brother, Kenneth Allen (Emma) of Goshen; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
