CHHS prepares for Navarre passing game

Charles Henderson head coach Hugh Fountain and the Trojans will face a team tonight that features one of the top fullbacks in the state of Florida.
Yet, Navarre High School is a predominantly passing team.
"That's somewhat odd to me," said Fountain. "But they've also got a pretty good quarterback, so maybe that's why they do it."
Senior Raiders' fullback Frank Willis (6-2, 240) is listed by many to be the No. 1 college prospect in Florida at his position. But after watching a game tape of Navarre's preseason contest against Niceville High School, Fountain was surprised to see the Radiers throw the ball over 90 percent of the time.
"It's going to be a whole lot different then what we faced last week, but we've got to prepare for that," Fountain said, referring to the Trojans' own preseason win over Pike County, 20-14. The Bulldogs were mainly an I-formation running team, while Navarre and senior quarterback Zack Cook (1,110 yards passing last season) would rather spread the field and look for the open receiver.
In a way, the Raiders' attack somewhat resemble the CHHS offense of last season.
Fountain also said his team put the Pike County win behind them over the weekend.
"I told them it would be great if we could get two straight wins right off the bat," said Fountain. "We've never played Navarre and we won't play them next year, so this is a chance for us to see what we're made of against different competition. We're going to use this as an opportunity to get better before region play."
The Trojans came out of the game against the Bulldogs "banged up," according to Fountain, but with no serious injuries. Starting tailback Jarvis Woods was transported to Edge Regional Medical Center last week in the third quarter after injuring his knee, but Fountain said Woods' injury wasn't as serious as first thought.
"He's practiced with us just about all week and he looked good out there yesterday," said Fountain. "Jarvis has good quickness and that's what he relies on. Maybe the injury has slowed him down in that aspect, but he still should be ready to go."
Kickoff for tonight's game is 7:30 p.m. at Troy's Memorial Stadium.
