Robert Lee Gambles, 83, of Ypsilanti, Mich., formerly of Luverne, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000 at Arbor Hospice Residence.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 29, 2000 at Pleasant Hill A.M.E. Zion Church in Luverne with the Rev. Gregory Harris officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill A.M.E. Zion Cemetery in Luverne with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers and floralbearers.

Mr. Grubbs was born April 22, 1917 in Crenshaw County to Robert and Melissa (Lucas) Gambles. He attended Crenshaw County public schools and retired from R.G. Gambles Cement Contractors Co. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley A.M.E. Church of Belleville and a lifelong member of Cement Masons Local #514 in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Survivors include nine children; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters, ex-wife, Eva L. Gambles; several nieces, nephews and friends.
