Engagement: Sheffield and Johnston

Mr. and Mrs. Paxton Daniel Sheffield of Brundidge announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Elizabeth, to Dr. Jerry Johnston Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lawrence Johnston of Troy.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Dean Helms of Brundidge and Mrs. Maude Sheffield and the late Mr. James Tolbert Sheffield of Brundidge.
Miss Sheffield is a graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark.
She attended Troy University where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.
Miss Sheffield received a Bachelor of Science degree is Elementary-Collaborative Education.
She is employed by Pike County Board of Education and teaches third grade at Pike County Elementary School in Brundidge.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Annette Colley and the late Dr. James Oscar Colley, Jr. of Troy and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Johnston of Troy.
Dr. Johnston is a graduate of Pike Liberal Arts School in Troy.
He received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University.
He is the owner and operator of Pike Animal Hospital in Troy.
The wedding is planned for June 20, 2009, onboard the Holiday, Mobile, Alabama.
A reception will follow immediately after the ceremony.

Engagement: Dykes and Bruce

Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Dykes are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Whitney Heather, to Dustin Blaine Bruce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Brad Holder of Monroeville and Mr. Gordon Bruce of Enterprise.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. Odell Dykes and the late Mrs. Tommy Mae Dykes of Louisville and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones of Brundidge.
Miss Dykes is a 2005 graduate of Dixie Academy and recently graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Sibley McKenzie of Monroeville, Mr. and Mrs. Braxton Holder of Monroeville, Mr. and Mrs. Mef Law of Enterprise and Mr. and Mrs. Helms Bruce of Enterprise.
He is a 2004 graduate from Monroe Academy and a 2008 graduate of Auburn University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in finance and was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.
The couple will be moving to Fort Worth, Texas where Mr. Bruce will begin Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to obtain his Master’s of Divinity.
The wedding is planned for Saturday, June 20 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Louisville, Alabama.
A reception will follow at the bride’s parents’ home. All friends and family are invited to attend.
