Although the Christian Love Center in Troy was very supportive of the efforts to assist hurricane and flood victims in recent months, the center will still host its annual Day of Giving from 8 until 10 a.m. Saturday.

Christian Love Center youth coordinator Lawanda Bell said people in the community are thinking the center will not have the means to host the Day of Giving this year because of its efforts to support the disaster victims.

“Our annual Day of Giving is an important event and every effort has been made to still be able to give back to our community,” Bell said.

“Members of the Phi Mu sorority at Troy University were here Thursday help to box the food items for Day of Giving. The food items will be boxed with a variety of non-perishable food items. We will also have clothing items and other items including dishes for those who have need of them. There will be no charge for the food boxes or the other items. Saturday is our Day of Giving as we seek to provide help to those in need in our community.”

Bell said Lowe’s has partnered with the Christian Love Center by hosting a food drive to benefit the Day of Giving.

“The Church of Highlands on Taylor Road in Montgomery is a dedicated supporter of the center,” Bell said. “Several members of the church are Troy residents and a large number of church members will be here to assist with the Day of Giving.”

Bell said the Day of Giving is an annual event in support of the community and those who could benefit from a helping hand.

The Christian Love Center is located at 223 Segars Street in Troy.
