Brundidge police are searching for the perpetrator of a vehicular theft and arson that occurred last Friday after the Pike County High School football game.

Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport said police found the vehicle, a black 2015 Nissan Altima belonging to Andrea Bailey of Brundidge, abandoned on County Road 4423 Friday.

“The vehicle had been torched,” Davenport said. “There was a faint smell of gasoline in the car. It appeared that gasoline had been doused on the seat and a napkin had been lit and thrown on the seat in an effort to burn the car. But, whoever committed this crime made a mistake in closing the car door. When all of the air in the car burned up, the fire went out. This was definitely arson.”
