Troy Football Watch Party on the Square is Thursday

The Troy Trojans are looking to become bowl-eligible on the road this Thursday with a win over Sun Belt rival South Alabama.

Residents that can’t make the trip to Mobile might want to consider heading to the Square to watch the game instead.

The downtown committee of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Troy have teamed up to bring the watch party downtown as one of its “Fall parties on the Square.”

Leigh Anne Windham, director of community services for the City of Troy, explained that the atmosphere of watching the rivalry game at the Square will ebat watching it at home.

“Watching the game in Downtown with lots of Trojan fans on the big screen will be much more fun and exciting than just watching it in your den,” Windham said. “The game will be projected on a big screen. You might just think you are at the game!”

Tables and chairs will be set up for the event, but Windham said it would be a good idea for residents to bring portable chairs from home just in case available seating fills up.

The other watch party this season for the Trojans’ game against Southern Miss had to be cancelled due to weather. This weekend, however, the chances of rain are slim and temperatures could get into the mid-70s, perfect weather to watch a football game.

The watch party will begin at 6:30 p.m., but Windham is encouraging residents to show up early to shop and eat downtown before the game.
