Shaughnessy said Fox will participate in many public events in Troy and Pike County including parades, festivals and civic events.

Lindsey said she is excited to have the opportunity to represent Pike County throughout the year and at the Alabama DYW program.

“It will be exciting to get to meet so many people who are part of our community,” she said. “Pike County is like a big family, and it will be an honor to be a part of it.”

Lindsey said that being the Pike County DYW will be provide her with opportunities that she would not have had otherwise.  “It will be a great experience here at home and participating in the state DYW will be an opportunity to meet girls outside of Troy and Pike County,” she said. “The areas of the state are different and so are the ways of life. It will be fun to get to know girls from all across the state.”

At the Alabama DYW Program, the participants will have to leave family and friends behind for a week as well as any electronic communication devices.

“It will be fun to get letters,” Lindsey said. “They will make wonderful keepsakes from my DYW experiences.”

Lindsey will not experience any twinges of homesickness while she is away at the state DYW program. Volleyball camps and mission trips have prepared her for being away from home.

Lindsey is a member of the CHHS varsity volleyball and softball teams and a member of the Mu Alpha Theater honor society.

Her talent in the Pike County DYW Program was an archery demonstration and she was right on the mark, hitting the center of the target and an apple as well.

“I was on the archery team at CHMS and my brother, Nathan, won state in archery. He is in the Marine Corps now.”

Lindsey has two other brothers, Michael who is at UAH and Riley who plays baseball at Jefferson Davis Community College. Her brothers have encouraged her interest in sports.

“I would like to play volleyball in college,” she said. “I’d like to get my bachelor’s degree in criminal investigation and then I’d like to go to law school.”

Lindsey’s college of choice is Troy University for several reasons including it’s here at home.

“I’m close with my mom and dad, Gary and Sheree Fox, and my brothers so I’d like to stay in Troy so I can spend more time them,” Lindsey said.

As for right now, Lindsey said she wants to enjoy her senior year and the experience of being Pike County’s DYW.
