“She didn’t pitch her best but she pitched well,” Snyder said. “She was able to get the shutout by relying on her defense to make plays in the field.”

Senkethia Thompson took the ball for the Bulldogs. She went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits

The Trojans got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning. The Trojans sent seven batters to the plate and pushed across two early runs. Kirkpatrick led the way with three consecutive doubles for the Trojans.

Rose Snyder picked up the other hit for the Trojans.

“We talk to hitters and say you never know when it’s going to be your night,” Snyder said. “The first game was her (Kirkpatrick) night. She had three doubles and that was very big for us.”

The Bulldogs picked up hits by Brooke Bennett, Aubrey Maulden and Nicole Holland.

Game two was a pitchers’ duel. Both teams went scoreless until the bottom of the fifth, when Abbie Barron led off the inning with a walk and came around to score on two errors off the bat of Whittaka Lowery and Kirkpatrick.
