“A Visit from St. Nicholas,” more commonly known as “The Night Before Christmas”

written by Clement C. Moore.

“The poem is familiar to most people and just about everybody has heard it at least one time,” Sausman said. “We wanted to tell the story through the use of storytelling, acting and dancing.”

The performers, about 30 of them, are members of the Xtreme Athletics performance ensembles and competition teams and will bring the story of the “A Visit from St. Nicholas” to life.

“The mom and dad will be reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ to the children and they will fall asleep,” Sausman said. “When the children wake up, they will no longer be at home.”

The children will find themselves in a magical place where all of the characters in the poem come to life.

There will be a dancing mouse, Frosty the Snowman and, of course, Santa Claus and an array of other Christmas characters.

“The kids will narrate the show. They will act and they will dance,” Sausman said. “The dances will include ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, maybe even hip-hop – the genre of dances we have learned this year. All of the dances will be related to the story. It will be a fun performance for the actors and dancers and the audience.”

Sausman said “Twas the Night Before Christmas” will, hopefully, be the beginning of a tradition of Christmas performances for young dancers and actors.

Tickets for “Twas the Night Before Christmas” are going fast. Sausman said tickets are available by calling 334-770-3547 or at Xtreme Athletics at 13652 Highway 231 South in Troy.
