The Troy Planning and Zoning Commission approved the sale of property on U.S. Highway 29 for the construction of a church building.

Walter Stell, representing Harry and Lucille Blair, presented the Blairs’ request to the commission to approve the final plat of Blair Subdivision No. 1, located to the east of but not including 2188 US Highway 29 South. The property is out of the city limits, Stell said, but is still within the planning jurisdiction.

“It’s a two lot subdivision,” Stell said. “It’s outside of city limits, just past Green Hills on the right. There is a big pasture out there.”

Stell said the Blairs plan to divide and sell the two parcels.

“They will be subdividing for a sale of these two parcels,” Stell said. “Parcel Two is going to be a church and Parcel One will be a tower. They own the property behind it and they kept the strip for access.”

In a second matter before the commission, Zach Bradley took the place of Buck Watkins with Watkins Consulting Engineering representing SCAA of Seventh Day Adventists and requested the approval from the commission for the final plat of the lot combination of Lots 15 and 16 of Block F of the Brundidge Heights Subdivision located at 210 Normal Avenue at the intersection of Normal and Hanchey streets.

Bradley said the church currently owned both lots with one housing the church building and the other being utilized as the church’s parking lot.

The request was approved unanimously.
