Curtis Allen McVey Sr., age 84 of Troy died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at his home. Funeral services for Curtis McVey will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Christian Home Church of Christ, Newton, Alabama with Dr. Mark Turner and Dr. Luke Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing. There will be an hour lie in state prior to the service at the church. Visitation will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara McVey; children, Lynda Parks, Curtis Allen McVey Jr., Deborah (Mike) Hughes, Michael (Carmen) Gilley; step children, Suzanne (Chris) Pounds, Daniel S. (Jackie) Sanders, David O. Sanders; grandchildren, Leah Laster, Jennifer McVey, Elizabeth (Jesse) Weiss, Carol Ann Gilley; 10 Step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and sisters, Geroldine (James) Copley, Shirley Wroten, Mary Carle, Brenda McVey, Donna (Wiley) Cullop. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Edward and Elsie Wiley McVey; his sister, Deloris Slaughter and his brothers, William McVey, Charles McVey and Joseph McVey.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Sims, Ernie May, Dalton Sanders, Cole Sanders, Michael Warren and Chandler Warren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christian Home Church of Christ building fund, 463 W. State Highway 92, Newton, Alabama 36352 or to the First Baptist Church, 200 West College Street, Troy, Alabama 36081.
