The Pike Liberal Arts softball team used dominant pitching to easily put away Northside Methodist 13-1 Monday afternoon in Dothan.

With the win, the Lady Patriots (8-3) extended their winning streak to five games.

Pike benefitted from a career day out of starting pitcher Sam Yarbrough, who struck out 12 batters in the game and allowed zero earned runs on two hits.

After exchanging a fruitless first two innings, Pike took control of the game in the top of the third inning, taking a 3-0 lead after a Yarbrough sacrifice fly scored one run and a single from Danielle Brown scored another on the way to a three-run inning.

In the sixth and seventh innings, the Lady Patriots’ bats came alive, scoring 10 runs in the final two innings, highlighted by an Amberlyn Baker home run that gave the team a spark in the top of the sixth to give Pike a 6-0 lead.

Northside did its best to rally, but could only muster one run in the bottom of the sixth.

Baker and Brown led Pike with four RBIs each in the game.
