The City of Brundidge Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for the purpose of purchasing a Kubota RTV that the volunteer fire department requested in its grant application.

The grant award is in the amount of $14,535.

Brundidge Fire Chief Glenn Adkins said the department requested the RTV to aid the department in its efforts to serve the Brundidge community.

“The RTV will be used to get to fires that are not accessible using our current equipment,” Adkins said. “We respond to numerous fires in rural areas the we can’t get to with the equipment that we have so we have a great need for this piece of equipment.

“The addition of the RTV provided by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant will greatly enhance our efforts to protect lives and property from fire.”

Adkins said the Brundidge Volunteer Fire Department is appreciative of the funding that will make the purchase of the RTV possible.

“We thank the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation this grant and for its support of public safety,” he said.

In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, life-saving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations. The Foundation understood that many first responders make do with older equipment and have limited or no access to needed resources. To date, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded more than $12 million to hometown heroes in 42 states and Puerto Rico.
