Trojan senior forward Ronita Garrett was named the College Sports Madness Sun Belt Player of the Week, Troy University announced Tuesday.

Garrett is coming off a big game against Tennessee State last Saturday where she scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Her double-double on Saturday was her third straight and her seventh of the season.

Garrett‘s six double-doubles rank her second in the Sun Belt Conference and 11th in the nation.

She also ranks fifth in the Sun Belt Conference in scoring and second in rebounding.

Garrett has scored in double digits in eight of the Trojans’ first nine games this season.

Just one week ago, Garrett posted her sixth double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds as well as four assists and four steals, both game-highs for Troy.

Garrett’s only game this year without double-digit scoring came against Samford, where she finished the night with just five points, but also contributed five rebounds and 3 assists.

Thanks in large part to Garrett’s play this season, the Trojans will now enter Sun Belt play with a winning record for the first time since 2009-10.

Troy will open their conference schedule Dec. 30 when they host Texas State.
