CHMS Trojans play last home game

The Charles Henderson Middle School seventh and eight grade boys and girls basketball teams all played their final home game of the season Thursday night against Barbour County.

In the first game of the night, the Charles Henderson seventh and eighth grade girls took on Barbour County.

After conceding the first point of the game to the Jaguars, the Lady Trojans went on a run, outscoring Barbour County 6-1 to close out the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Barbour County made their best run at the lead, getting to within two points midway through.

But the Lady Trojans responded, closing out the half with two-straight baskets.

In the second half, it was all Charles Henderson.

The Lady Trojans held the Jaguars to just four points in the second half on their way to a 33-12 victory over Barbour County.

In the seventh grade boy’s game, the Trojans trailed just once in the game after falling behind 1-0 to begin the first quarter.

From there, Charles Henderson scored at will on the Jaguars, on their way to a 20-7 first half lead.

The Trojans held on despite a late Barbour County rally, winning 38-29.

And in the nightcap, the Charles Henderson eighth grade boys downed Barbour County 51-43.

Despite getting out to an early lead in the game, the Trojans trailed for most of the contest.

Charles Henderson finally regained the lead midway through the third quarter, and they would not relinquish it for the remainder of the game.

The Jaguars battled to within three, but the Trojans closed the game out on a 6-0 run.
