Open House Thursday in Brundidge

Brundidge merchants will host Christmas on Main Street Thursday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and everyone is invited to this unique downtown shopping experience.

Jamie Bullock, owner of Brundidge Florist, said Christmas on Main Street will be reminiscent of the times when main streets were the primary shopping venues at Christmastime.

Brundidge Florist and Jackson Hardware have held open house for the past few years but this year, other shops are participating to make it a downtown open house event.

“We have several new businesses on Main Street and they are excited about our downtown open house,” Bullock said. “Brundidge Florist and Jackson’s Gifts will have sales throughout the day and we’ll have refreshments. Several of the other stores will have all day sales but the main emphasis, I think, will be later in the day. Everyone will be open until around seven o’clock.”

Shopping under the stars has become a thing of the past on most main streets so Christmas on Main Street will be an opportunity to come back to the way it used to be.

Participating shops will include Pickin’ and Grinnin’ and Two Sisters, South Main Jewelers, Gifts and Thrift, Michelle’s, studio 116 and the We Piddle Around Theater. Eeztec, another new downtown business, is making plans to be open.

The Pizza Palace will be open with specials for the nighttime shoppers.

The We Piddle Around Theater will be open from 4 until 6 p.m. with Christmas music and storytelling opportunities. Tickets will be available for the Chili Country Christmas storytelling event and as well as pre-sale tickets for the Pike Piddlers Storytelling Festival in January.

Studio 116 will be conducting art classes around 6 p.m. and visitors will have an opportunity to see art in motion, shop for unique gift items and visit the art gallery.

Refreshments will be available to shoppers in several of the downtown stores and sales will be ongoing until closing time.
