Candidates detail spending: Finance reports outline income, expenditures

With the general election only four days away, candidates on the state and local levels are required to submit weekly finance reports.

The local candidates filed reports for the week of Oct. 20 and raised a total of $9,339 and spent a total of $5,102 with all of it going towards advertising.

Incumbent revenue commissioner Curtis Blair, Democrat, received a personal loan of $3,000.

Blair spent a total of $1,400, with all of it going toward advertising.

Blair spent $400 with The Tropolitan and $1,000 with WTBF.

Jerome “Bo” Weed, Republican candidate for revenue commissioner, received an in-kind donation of $204 from the Pike County Republican Party for advertising. Weed spent a total of $381 on advertising. Weed spent $140 with The Messenger and $241 with Master Image, Inc.

Incumbent sheriff Russell Thomas, Democrat, received a total of $3,400 donations. Thomas spent a $4,721 on advertising.

Thomas received a $400 donation from Tim Magee and a $3,000 donation from the Pike County Democratic Committee. Thomas spent $2,381 with The Messenger, $800 with The Tropolitan, $100 with LA in Troy, $335 with Troy Cablevision, $850 with WTBF and $255 with Dixie Living.

Jason Youngblood, Republican candidate for sheriff, received a total of $2,735 in in-kind donations.

Youngblood received a $204 in-kind donation from the Pike County Republican Party for advertising and a $2,531 in-kind donation from the Pike County Republican party for advertising. Youngblood did not spend any money during that time span.

Incumbent State Rep. Alan Boothe, Republican, raised a total of $41,887.77 in donations with $7,967.52 in in-kind donations and spent a total of $35,761.51 with $35, 279.56 going toward advertising.

Boothe received a $750 donation from 1st Financial Franklin, a $1,000 donation from Alabama Dental PAC, a $1,000 donation form Alabama Power Company Employees PAC, a $2,500 donation from ALAPAC, a $750 donation from AT&T Alabama PAC, a $5,000 donation from CAREPAC, a $1,000 donation from Comcast Corporation, a $7,100 donation form FARMPAC, a $500 donation from Franklin Resources Group LLC, a $750 from Friends of Retirees, a $1,437.77 donation from Jen PAC, a $1,000 donation from Jobs PAC, a $4,000 donation from Progress PAC, a $500 donation from Regions Financial Corporation PAC, a $4,000 donation from Retailers of Alabama PAC, a $500 donation from CGI Technologies and Solutions, INC PAC and a $10,000 donation from Progress PAC.

Boothe received an in-kind contribution of $3,983.76 from Alabama Federation for Children PAC and an in-kind contribution of $3,983.76 from Alabama Federation for Children PAC.

Boothe spent $900 with Walker Miller on advertising, $5,244.28 with USPS on advertising, $2,316.25 with Ideal Graphics on advertising, $400 with Troy Bank & Trust Visa on transportation, $753 with Troy Bank & Trust Visa on advertising, $7,011.03 with Alpine Advertising on advertising and $19,055 with Alpine Advertising on advertising.

Joel Lee Williams, Democratic candidate for state representative, raised a total of $2,525 with $275 coming from in-kind contributions. Williams spent a total of $1,600 with $1,500 going toward advertising.

Williams received a $100 donation from Caleb Dawson, a $50 donation from Ed Stevens, a $2,000 donation from Cunningham Bounds, LLC and a $100 donation from Alice Williford.

Williams received an in-kind contribution of $275 from Alabama Voice of Teachers for Education for administrative fees.

Williams spent $49 with Campaign Partners on advertising, $49 with Campaign Partners on advertising, donated $100 to Pike Medical Foundation and spent $1,500 with WTBF on advertising.

State representative and elected official campaign finance reports are public records. Local campaign finance reports may be accessed in the records department of the County Courthouse. State Representative campaign finance reports may be found by going to the Secretary of the State’s website and searching for the respected candidate’s forms through the finance report search engine on the website.
